Pre- Production - Questionnaire 1 (and questionnaire analysis)

To get an idea of what the general people liked in a music video and what types of music they liked, I produced this questionnaire that I put online on surveymonkey.com

 From this I sent a link to people that I knew to fill out my questionnaire, after giving them a week to fill it in, I analyzed my results, this is what I got:

The dance routines that are in this music videos are the genre characteristics that you would accept to find in this type of pop girl band music video, as said in Goodwins theory, also the amount of close ups of the different band members link to Goodwins theory.

Animaion Workshop with Professional Mark Charlton

For part of or pre-production work, we had an animation work shop with a professional called Mark Charlton. For the first part of the day, we worked on 5 different stations that all included different parts of animation. On one of the stations we did traditional animation (hand drawn animation), this animation is where the individual frames are taken of drawings, these are then moved slightly and another frame is taken, when played back it creates the illusion of movement. We also did object animation, this is where small objects are placed and moved with individual frames being taken, played back it looks like the objects are moving in stop-motion animation. We did model animation also, this is animation of the live-action world, and you can animate someone walking, jumping or spinning, in a real life atmosphere. Graphic animation was used to create splashes of paint. With stop-animation we also created a flip book by drawing a start of a picture and on each drawing added a part of the drawing, we took a frame of each picture, then when played back it creates a flip book, this is a quick and easy way to create one. After we tried out these different stations, we went in small groups to create a music video to a song; we decided to use traditional animation (hand drawn animation) to create this. We picked the track LMFAO – Party Rock Anthem and for our storyline we decided to have paint splashing and lights flashing along with the beat, along with cartoon characters “partying” in a club. We based the storyline mostly on the lyrics and the music beat.

 

 This is our music video that we created, we didn't have enough time to finish the whole song.
